May 29, 2022 – 1st Economic Diplomacy Day of the Namur Consular Corps: Ambassadors’ Rally & Garden Party

This Sunday, May 29, the Consular Corps of the province of Namur organized the first edition of “The Economic Diplomacy Day”

The Consular Corps of the Province of Namur (CCPN), established as a non-profit organization, aims to bring together honorary consuls whose mission is, in particular, to develop commercial, economic, cultural and academic relations between the States they represent and the authorities and officials in the territory of the Province of Namur, to promote cordial relations between them and to develop coordinated actions in order to enhance their activities.

Thus, for its first activity since its creation at the end of 2021, the CCPN brought together more than 50 ambassadors from five continents responding to the invitation of the Consular Corps of Namur. This was probably one of the largest economic diplomacy events organized in Belgium.

It was at the Ecolys park in Suarlée that one of the CCPN's partners, CAFES DELAHAUT, welcomed the participants for a pre-departure breakfast. 120 km later, after traveling the most beautiful roads and enjoying the most stunning views of the Meuse valley, it was at the Château de Freyr that the Ambassadors were applauded by more than 200 guests from the academic, economic, and various business worlds for the Garden Party. The afternoon was devoted to numerous discussions which, in the opinion of the Ambassadors and guests, were fruitful and promising, culminating in this day of economic diplomacy.

This day was held under the high patronage of HRH Princess Léa of Belgium, present for the occasion and supported by the Governor of the Province of Namur, Denis MATHEN, Honorary President of the Consular Corps.

For the President of the CCPN, Magali Dugardin, Honorary Consul of Congo Brazzaville: "The objective is to participate in the international expansion of our companies and to contribute to the growth of our economy. Thanks to our consular network, we have privileged relationships with heads of post. This allows us to mobilize them so that they come and meet our companies. It is an original and innovative formula for bringing together economic actors and diplomacy. Contacts are established or strengthened in a friendly atmosphere. Business relationships are developed. We are therefore playing our part by strengthening the remarkable work carried out by AWEX in synergy with business federations."

Through this action, the Consular Corps of the province of Namur also wanted to honor two charitable associations and the auction of a watch offered by one of the sponsors, RAIDILLON, made it possible to financially support the Société Royale Moncrabeau (Les 40 Molons) and the non-profit organization Educ'action et dignité.

The immense success of this first edition, thanks to the participants, sponsors and partners, encourages the Consular Corps to continue its momentum.

The second edition is already scheduled for June 4, 2023.
