On May 23, 2024, we had the honor of participating in a working visit by a delegation from Djibouti, led by the Minister of Infrastructure and Equipment, in the presence of the Ambassador accredited to Brussels. Organized at the Provincial Palace by Mr. Denis Mathen, Governor of the Province of Namur, this meeting provided an opportunity to discuss several important topics for bilateral cooperation.
The meeting took place in the presence of several personalities, including the President of the Autonomous Port of Namur.
Topics covered included:
Bilateral cooperation in securing maritime routes, as well as the EU's Aspides mission in the Red Sea.
Management training issues (logistics and security) related to mobility and multimodal transport, particularly port and rail activities.
Exchanges of expertise in railway safety and mobility-related infrastructure.
Issues related to the Francophonie, awareness of certain employment sectors (maritime professions), and foreign investment.
Points relating to political diplomacy and the Department of Foreign Affairs were mentioned by Governor Denis Mathen, but were not discussed in detail.
This meeting was a valuable opportunity to strengthen our relations and explore new opportunities for collaboration between the Province of Namur and Djibouti.
