On July 21, 2025 , the Consular Corps of the Province of Namur once again responded to celebrate the Belgian National Day 🇧🇪 with solemnity and conviviality, alongside the provincial and local authorities.

The day began with the traditional Te Deum in the Saint-Aubain Cathedral in Namur ⛪, a moment filled with contemplation and republican symbolism. The procession then walked to the statue of Leopold , where the authorities laid wreaths in homage to the Nation 🇧🇪.

This was followed by a speech by Madame Charlotte Bazelaire , acting Mayor, who spoke with emotion about the value of our democracy, before inviting all participants to the traditional friendly drink .

The Consular Corps was represented by:

  • Magali Dugardin , Honorary Consul of the Republic of Congo 🇨🇬 and President of the CCPN

  • Jérôme Bestgen , Honorary Consul of Haiti 🇭🇹 and Head of Protocol

  • David Dannevoye , Honorary Consul of France 🇫🇷

In the evening, the members of the CCPN took part in the official reception organized by Baron Ernest de Lamine de Bex , Honorary Consul of Malta 🇲🇹, at the Château d'Ophem . A moment always very appreciated in the diplomatic calendar: relaxed atmosphere, many personalities, friendly discussions and… traditional fries and Belgian beers served in the castle park 🍟🍺

Among the ambassadors present:

  • HE Giovanni Xuereb , Ambassador of Malta 🇲🇹

  • HE João Mendes Pereira , Ambassador of Brazil 🇧🇷 (to whom the Consular Corps had the honor of bidding farewell before his departure for a new mission)

  • HE Bold Luvsanvandan , Ambassador of Mongolia 🇲🇳

  • HE Sahbi Khalfallah , Ambassador of Tunisia 🇹🇳

  • HE Shengchao FEI , Ambassador of China 🇨🇳

  • SE Patrick Herman , Ambassador of Belgium 🇧🇪 (who will soon take up his duties in Mexico)

Also present were:

  • Bernard Piette , Honorary Consul General of the Netherlands 🇳🇱 and President of the Consular Corps of Liège

This moment, rich in exchanges, laughter and diplomatic solidarity, bears witness to the shared commitment to Belgium, the Namur region and international cooperation.

Long live Belgium! 🎉
